Do you want to make 2019 the year you really learn English? If so, try out these three tips for improving your English vocabulary. You might just be amazed at the results by the time 2020 arrives!
Reading is a major part of how we learn vocabulary in our native tongue. It’s also a great way to pick up new words in English. Challenge yourself with books that are maybe slightly above your comprehension level, and when you see a word you don’t recognize, take the time to look it up in the dictionary and write out the word and its meaning.
Try to Memorize a Word a Day
While reading, take the new words you come across and commit at least one to memory each day. Keep a journal with each day’s entry and make an effort to use your newly-acquired words in conversation, in a letter, or on social media.
Make a Game of It!
Have fun with learning. Playing a game like Scrabble or Words With Friends is good because it lets you practice using words in English. It’s also beneficial because it lets you view time spent learning as enjoyable rather than as a chore. If you look forward to learning, you are more likely to keep it up.
