Learning English as a Second Language in Manhattan and Queens
Learning a new language can be tough, especially if you don't have any kind of background with the language. At ALCC American Language, we offer students a tried and true program designed to teach them grammatically correct English, no matter what their level of expertise is. If you are interested in learning English as a Second Language, or ESL, you have come to the right place.
How We Teach
When ALCC first began teaching ESL over 25 years ago, we did so with the philosophy that learning should be enjoyable and relaxed. We still stand by that principle today. In order to foster this type of atmosphere, all of our lessons are taught in English. Since our students hail from across the globe, the only language that is common amongst the whole class will be English. We teach our students how to have a conversation, as well as ask practical questions.
Who We Teach
As mentioned above, ALCC teaches students from all over the world. Our pupils are usually split between those who have come to the U.S. just to study English, and those who are living here and want to improve their knowledge of the language. Our students come to us with differing levels of expertise in English, from no experience at all to those who can speak a little but wish to be able to carry on full conversations.
Who Teaches Our Students
Due to the high demand for ESL, ALCC American Language currently has over 90 active teachers. Each of our instructors has a bachelor's degree at the minimum. Just like our students, our teachers come from a wide variety of backgrounds and locations.
Along with basic ESL classes, our center also offers classes in American literature, short story writing, business English, advanced conversational English, and how to improve your pronunciation and minimize your accent. No matter what your level of English expertise is, or what you want to learn, ALCC American Language can help.
